im in need of buying my first car and it has come down to crunch time. my only choice is between a 1998 Hyundai excel  (148,000km) for $3100 and a 1998 daewoo lanos (60,000km) for $4800.
i can afford either one, and i really prefer the appearance and condition of the daewoo but i am constantly being told about how Daewoo became bankrupted in australia and that it will struggle to get the car fixed if anything goes wrong.
is this true or will a mechanic be able to fix it?
and are there more con's than pro's?

thanks for your response!

your advise on the Daewoo is correct, parts are beginning to run out and there are no equivalent replacement parts, stick with brand names that are still available.
