well, even with a helmet on, you can still get hurt. If u drive it safe tho, you should be fine (dont try to do things your not comfortable with).
4 wheelers are not street legal anywhere in the US, but you can drive them on private property at any age. (or just don't get caught)

Here are the requirements for driving an ATV in the state of Michigan.

*  All riders (operator and passengers) must wear a helmet and eye protection at all times.
*  All ATVs must be titled.
*  All ATVs must be registered unless used solely on an operator’s private land; renewal is once every year.
*  Children under 16 years old must have a safety training certificate and be under the direct visual supervision of an adult.
*  No one under 16 may operate a three-wheeled ATV.

four wheeler and atv are the same thing. we got 4 of them and only 1 is registered. the rest have insurance. i have escaped the chase of the dcnr. the only reason i didnt stop because it would of been 300. in fines and impounded and i ain't dealing with that. but if i was you i would get it registered and insured my bike is 50 a year and i think another 10 for it to be registered. as long a you wear a helmet and dont show off you can be safe. just take it easy until you get used to it
