I have a small chip in my windscreen, which I want to have fixed.

Firstly, does anyone know if it is easy to sort this myself using a chip repair kit?  I have seen them in halfords, but I'm not sure if I'm better off having it done professionally.

Also...if my policy includes windscreen cover, and I use this to get it fixed properly, will this affect my no claims bonus?  I'm covered with Diamond and have almost got 2 years no claims bonus now, which I don't want to lose.

Thanks,
Nicola

If its repairable its usually done for free (or pay excess)depending on you policy? with no loss of no claims bonus.Phone diamond as they normally want you to go to an approved company.Hope this helps

Usually you would pay up to £50 for window repairs or replacement.

I have never seen a policy where windscreen repairs affected no-claims bonus.

If it's a small chip the repair kits do work, I used that Halfords one and although it's fiddly it did the job.

Ring the insurance to ask but usually if a chip can be repaired it will not affect your NCD.  It's only when a windscreen is replaced that it becomes a claim which will affect your NCD.

Lots of places will repair chips for free. Phone some local windscreen places. This only works if the chip does not extend to the edge of the screen. Also it will not be done if the chip is in line with the driver's vision.
So far as screen insurance is concerned mine does not lose me my no claims bonus but I do have to apy the excess.

For automobile insurance the most efficient way to get a good quote is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you pick similar options with the same limits, car type, location, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison.

What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have big name insurers and can give several quotes on car insurance polices.

Most insurance companies work that a glass repair is free, a replacement incurs and excess of about £60, and you can make up to 2 glass claims a year without affecting your NCB. Check your policy documents.
