I want to know which is the better car to buy? Performance? Quality? Handling? Comfort? After market tweaking? Resale, etc.

Both will have all those qualities. However, the Evo may not give the comfort. The ride is very stiff & it's a heavy car w/ it's AWD. But for sure the Evo will out perform the Si in my opinion. The Evo will have a hefty insurance tab too.

You are better off comparing two cars in the same market.  Right now you are comparing a car that costs ~22k to a car that is over 30k.

The Evo is going to be better in every way except for the the amount of miles you are going to get out of it.  It has a higher overall cost to drive but it will give you more comfort, better performance, and a better overall experience but the Si costs 10k less and you get decent performance and it will last alot longer than the Evo.  You are better off comparing the Evo to a Subaru STi and the Si to a Mazda Speed3

Evo.

performance isn't even close. the Si is a fast civic.  the Evo is a slow race car.

Quality, I believe the Si will be better, but not by much.

Handling - I lump this in with performance.  the lancer has AWD, and a much more advances suspension.  The Si will have torque-steer, and probably won't quite keep up with the Evo.

Comfort, the Si again, but the Evo isn't bad.  depending on what you're driving now, you may or may not consider it 'good.'

Aftermarket for both is strong.  about even.

resale - again, both are strong.  the difference is that the Civic Si will likely be resold to someone wanting an affordable, reliable used car.  It's unlikely they'll specifically be seeking a used Civic Si.  the Evo is pretty well known and has achieved cult-car status.  a buyer of an Evo will know exactly what it is, and will likely only be looking at other Evos, or direct competitors (which I don't consider the Si to be)

Evo, but it looks tall.
if you like to do manual, what about Si?
if you like to get much faster speed, Evo.
