Have gotten a fur coat with a bow, but never a car!  I like to pick out my own vehicle.  I drive a truck.

no; if they're that rich then they probably already have 5 other cars just like the new one.

I did last Christmas. My wife was driving a 1998 Mercury Tracer. It was the BOTTOM of the line, but she kept saying she was fine with it when I wanted to get her a car. She enjoyed the gas mileage, but I grew tired of having to work on it all the time to ensure it remained road worthy.

I went to the dealership on the 21st of December, bought her the car and stored it at my grandpa's shop. While she was asleep I took her car to the shop, came back with the new one and wrapped a big bow around it.

Next morning she was the happiest woman in our neighborhood! I was the happiest man to be able to give her something that she deserved! A brand new 2008 Nissan Pathfinder loaded to the teeth!

She'd be upset with me for spending that much money without consulting her, so not in this household.

My ex bought me a Jeep, just because I always wanted one.  No bow, just went to lunch.  Then he said "We need to pick up something." We  went to the dealership.  I walked over to look at the pretty Jeep, and he handed me the keys. I said "I don't want to drive it and not be able to have it." He said "It's yours."  No holiday involved.
