I have my shifter repaired last week the button on the shifter was stuck and it wasn't releasing my key. I just got my car out of the shop last Saturday and it will be going back again this Saturday. I realize while I was leaving my job my headlight on the passenger side are out both low beam and high beam and also I do not think the high beams are working on the drivers side either. Could this be a electrical problem? The Volvo dealer was suppose to do a all around check on my car before they released it to me. I do not know if the headlights were like that when I took it there last week or did the headlights go out this week. I feel like I bought a lemon. In September I took it in because the brakes light was on and my brakes were not acting right, but they could not find anything wrong with the brakes. The service writer said that the brake fluid wasn't low enough to make the brake light come on, so all they did was put more brake fluid in.

I've had mines for 7 months.

My sister bought one and has had it 6 months.  It has been in the shop for various reasons 4 separate times.  She will be paying for this car for years and I think it is a piece of junk.
The older Volvos where better.

Older Volvos are wonderful cars and will last forever. From the 90s models on, they have been total crap. I have a '98 that I've spent as much on to keep it running as I originally paid for the car.

The engines and transmissions in a Volvo will last forever - because they are actually made by Volvo. The rest of the car is junk bought from junk suppliers to save cost.

Volvos are safe cars, but they are certainly not good quality cars.

Cut your losses and get rid of this car as soon as the warranty expires, or before if it's driving you crazy. The newer Volvos are over-engineered garbage cans. I speak from experience after a four-year nightmare with the last new one I bought. The 940 was the last good Volvo and even it was no comparison to my '66 that I've been driving for fourteen years.
I agree that the dealer should have checked your car thoroughly before giving you the keys but dealer service departments usually do the minimum and little else. Make them fix what's wrong. If you feel that you have a lemon then enact your state's lemon law, if there is one.

Go back to your local Volvo dealer and explain it to them, or contact them via Telephone and explain
happy driving

I have a 91 740 and it has 196,200 on it.  What year and model is yours?
