I have a car that would be great as a mechanics fixer, and since it would cost more to fix it than the value of the car-- we bought one new. Now how is the best way to sell it? I only want the fair price, and I have found donating it wont benefit me. (would rather give cash than junk car)
The car is a mazda 626, 97, 142000 miles, and in rough but running condition. It needs work on the cadalitic converter about 1000, and CVboots at about 700.

You have not told us what the car is or anything about it. So I will answer you in a very general way. "cars-for-cash" are places that will more often than not give you less than the wholesale value of your car. This is not a viable option  for you. Your second choice is to list it in the news paper and ask for best offer. I can tell you now that what you think is the "Fair Price" and what really is are a far way apart from one another. The third option is to load it on a trailer and haul it to the salvage yard. I would suggest that you check around and find out how much salvage yards are paying for a car like yours and hope that you get a little bit more out of option number 2
