im looking into the rebel 250 and want actual riders opinions on how the bike does on longer rides (5 hours or so). im not a speed freak by all means and i would just like a little cruiser to get around town, use on the highway, and make the occasional long ride.

I highly recommend the Honda VLX 600. Honda reliability, can easily cruise at 65 or 70, very comfortable, enough power to climb hills or accelerate onto freeway. Light and easy to maneuver.

The Rebel would be good around town, work and back, college, errands. But for 5 hours? No thank you. You have any mountain passes to cross? How about any short on-ramps to a freeway. If you weigh less than 90 lbs, then I MIGHT consider the Rebel. You still would be reving the **** out of that little engine on the freeway.

the rebel is very reliable and if ur small framed it will be plenty comfortable for long rides, I personally have had no trouble getting that little bugger up mountain passes or up to freeway speed. My opinion is sit on one and if it feels comfortable go for it I think the are excellent machines

Hi
I have had a honda rebel for more than a year . I have taken it on
200mi trips and had no problem it has a comfortable seat . just
don't try to sit to far back on the seat .  its not a good idea to go more
than 70 mph but why do you need to anyway ?

I know the honda rebel has a small gas tank, so for long distance rides you might have to gas up more than everybody else. But taking your bike on longer rides is when you really get to know your bike. I ride a hayabusa 1300, my bike can do the long rides but my back cant.

Hello!

I see people constantly getting bikes that are too big for their purposes, just because their friends say their smaller bike can't make it up a hill, or other things they know nothing about.  Here, let me show you the truth about small bikes and long trips!

Now that we have that out of the way, I should tell you that it is very important to be comfortable on a long trip with a small bike, so get support on that back of yours, and you can get throttle rockers, so you can relax your hands, etc.

I have been told a Honda Rebel can run 70MPH, but that it needs to rest a bit doing that.  What I recommend is to not run full throttle, and to back it if 1/3 on those trips.  The engine will last a heck of a lot better, and you won't stress this tough little engine so badly.

Bill Bonwell, Darryl L. Petrak, and Barbara Spinnenweber have all ridden their Honda Rebel 250s a certified 1000 miles in under 24 hours.  The bike is capable.

Before I bought a Rebel I would look at the Kymco Venox or Hyosung GV250 they are both much better bikes more comfortable on the highway, more horse power. The rebel is a little more than a toy. The two I have mentioned are not chinese imports but well made motorcycles with good warranty's that are honored. Cheaper to.
