When I get online, I have difficulty getting off and doing something else. I feel like if I'm not on here or some other website, I'll miss something. It makes me feel almost disconnected.
Sometimes it causes me to stay up all night...literally. Then I sleep all day, which gets my days and nights mixed up. Sometimes I spend over 12 hours on the computer, just shut up in my room.
My life is pretty empty without the computer. Even with it.
There's nothing else to do. I can't go outside to do anything, it's freezing here. Well...I can't do much, I guess.
It's just that I have no friends, and I'm out of school for a month or so. I've also been very depressed for a little over a year...when this pretty much started.
I'll be in therapy soon for anxiety and depression, do you think it will help?
This is definitely out of hand. What can I do on my own? I've tried disconnecting the internet, but it just doesn't work.

I think that in a way, you answered your own question. You said that you're depressed, so you probably don't have the motivation to do anything else? I recommend hypnosis CD's for anxiety/depression. It worked for me, you'll  notice the difference right away and you will realize how bright and precious life is!

I'd ask your counselor about it. For now, just try to distract yourself as much as possible.
I know how you feel, I have a problem with that too.

You know, your life probably isn't as empty as you think. I always had the same feeling, like I would get offline and realize how much my life sucked...then I would get back on and I would just forget about everything in my world.
But if you just spend a few days away from the computer, you realize how much you've been missing out on. There's more to life than staring at a screen all day.
It takes a while to realize that and sometimes you go straight back into the habit, but after you stop being so addicted, your life seems so much better.

On the internet, sometimes ppl can have, sorta a double life. Maybe you feel more secure in your internet life than you do in your "real" life. Try spending more time with friends and family or find some kind of a hobby. Tell someone about your "addiction" and maybe they can keep you from being on the intenet too much...if that's what you want.
